Artist's statement:
Light inspires me..
color motivates me...and
the soul of my subjects
direct me.
Painting a picture for
me is like chasing an
itch on ones back. I am
never satisfied. The
itch keeps moving from
one painting to another.
I strive for the reality
of what I am painting.
I view my work as
“Contemporary Realism”
if a label is needed. I
work only from life. My
people, places and
things I consider to be
all portraiture.
The greatest love is
the process of painting
the picture. The
greatest joy is seeing
it reflected in those
who view the love in it.

Paint like a pro, a

Festival, and celebrate your furry

Paint like a pro
When you’ve got it flaunt it," says
Steve Bowersock, co-owner of the
Bowersock Gallery. "What we’ve got is
one of the premier portrait artists in
the region. What we’ve decided to do is
bring her to the gallery and offer an
educational demonstration that outlines
her painting process. Now you can see
what it is that makes Pamela DuLong
Williams one of the most sought after
artists." The demonstration will be held
on September 29th at Bowersock Gallery,
373 Commercial St. The event is limited
to 10 participants and runs noon till
3:30, with a $20 fee. "You can watch,
ask questions, and learn," says
Bowersock. "Pamela has been an art
instructor for decades, so there’s more
to this than watching someone oblivious,
absorbed by their own process. She’ll
work from a prepared sketch, so she can
concentrate on her color work and
application." Since coming on board at
Bowersock this season, DuLong Williams’
representational paintings, often
created in rich, almost jewel-like
colors, have become some of the
gallery’s most popular work. DuLong
Williams has fashioned a four-decade
career in fine art as a painter,
portrait artist and art instructor. Her
work has been exhibited throughout the
east coast, from Kennebunkport, Maine,
to Wilmington, NC, and has been
recognized with awards. Her work appears
in numerous private and public
collections including the Social Law
Library, State House Collection in
Boston and the National Academy, NYC.
"Were she without all the credits, her
work would speak for itself. Her strong
hand and mastery of colors marks her as
an artist of exceptional skill and
vision," says Bowersock. "This is a rare
opportunity to see the magic in
process."
